Hello Hello!

I hope all is well in your world. This post has been a long time coming, Lady Növa O’Leveret has been a hard one to pin, being a Solitary Witch and only Hare in my current series, and as I have recently learned, she is also a mysterious fairy Banshee, often heard but rarely seen.

Scotland being in the news at this point in time concerning independence from the UK, I thought it perfect timing I Finally Officially Welcome Her.

Her name explained: Növa’s name is derived from Latin, with Irish/Scottish elements thrown in, as she wears the breastplate of the Highland Clan Gordon.
Her first name Növa means “new” in Latin, (a new animal in my series of foxes). “O” comes from the Banshee element, as most clan members who had a banshee attached to them had either O or Mac as their prefixes. And a Leveret is the proper name for a Juvenile Hare.

I have had a lot of fun researching names and their meanings plus mythological creatures of Celtic origins.

Wiki: The banshee (or banchee) (/ˈbænʃiː/ ban-shee), from Irish: bean sí [bʲæn ˈʃiː] (“woman of the barrows”) is a female spirit in Irish mythology, usually seen as an omen of death and a messenger from the underworld. In Scottish Gaelic mythology, she is known as the bean sìth or bean nighe and is seen washing the bloodstained clothes or armour of those who are about to die. In legend, a banshee is a fairy woman who begins to wail if someone is about to die.
The banshee may also appear in a variety of other forms, such as that of a hooded crow, stoat, hare and weasel – animals associated in Ireland with witchcraft.

Very, very fitting.

The crystal horn helps her second sight from her third eye, an antennae to enable her to sense the details of those about to die, so that she may release her sorrowful wail in due time.

I hope to add another Hare member to the series. Only Time will Tell.
